Intertwining modernity and the traditions of gamelan music of Bali in print and social media

The Gamelan Pawisik group of Grinnell College performed a free event as a part of the UUS Music Outreach Program series, a free program bringing music and arts to the public.

Color and texture tell a deeper story of gamelan music and dance

The photos of the Grinnell College students who took part in the musical and dance performances were the perfect starting point for creating a poster that embraced the modern nature of their studies.

Echoes of color behind the top image of the musical group honors the rich tradition of Balinese gamelan music

The rainbow recognizes the rich heritage of gamelan music and dance while the purple, a traditional color for royalty, of the background is a reminder that cultural traditions should be held in a place of honor and celebrated throughout time and modernity.

Melding the design into a suite of graphics that complement social media platforms

With the design concept as the foundation, a suite of social media graphics were built to play well with the variety of social media platforms that the audience favored. Facebook and Instagram were leading platforms with a hearty blog post following closely behind.
